Welcome to Whiskystories! On this blog you’ll find all sorts of stuff whisky related. My main aim is to write stories about whisky that provide a bit of background to this wonderful drink, so you may be able to understand and appreciate what’s in your glass even more.
Of course I also like to have a drink from time to time. You can check out my tasting notes under the Reviews section, I hope they will be useful for those curious about a certain whisky. As taste is always subjective, feel free to leave a comment about your own views on a particular expression!

I have written a book about a Collach, Allan McLean (1833-1898) who emigrated to
New Zealand in the 1860s and became a successful farmer and horse-breeder.
His ancestors came from Guirdil on the Isle of Rum, and I would very much like to use your
photograph of the Guirdil Bothy in my book. Yours is by far the best image of Guirdil
I could find on the internet! I would credit the source as whiskystories.com,
but would be happy to add name of the photographer if desired.
